Rats and mice are a fact of life for Florida residents, particularly in Naples, Marco Island, and Bonita Springs. Our location offers a beautiful blend of urban and rural, wilderness and city– which means home and business owners often encounter unwanted wildlife, specifically mice and rats. At Personalized Pest Control, our pest and rodent removal services will keep your family safe and your property protected.
Prevention is key to avoiding the presence and activity of rodents. Changes in temperature and seasonal weather patterns influence rodent activity on and around your property. Additionally, increased construction in nearby communities can also increase the rat and mouse population in your specific area. Act today to ensure your home and property are prepared for unwanted and increased rodent traffic around your home and property.
Effective control begins by assessing the property for potential or existing rodent issues, followed by professional, responsible, safe, management, and eradication techniques.
1. Assess home for possible entry sites, such as holes leading from the exterior to the interior.
2. Utilize rodent trapping techniques in areas identified as active rodent sites.
3. Permanently seal entry points.
4. Install rodent bait boxes around the perimeter of the home after completion of successful trapping. These boxes are monitored regularly.
Roof Rats
The roof rat is the most common rodent found in Southwest Florida. These rodents are excellent climbers and can easily travel along trees, fences, rooflines, and utility lines. Once they reach your roof, they often find their way into attics and wall cavities where they build nests.
Norway Rats
Norway rats typically prefer ground-level areas such as crawl spaces, garages, and basements. They are burrowers and often dig under structures to find shelter, food sources, and water.
Rodents are more than just a nuisance. They can cause serious damage to homes and property.
Common damage includes:
Rodents can squeeze through extremely small openings in order to gain access to your home. Once inside, they search for food, water, and a warm place to nest.
If you notice any of the following, it may indicate a rodent problem:
When rodents are active in or around your home, it is important to address the issue quickly before the infestation grows.
Effective rodent control requires more than simply removing the animals. A full remediation plan should include:
A detailed evaluation will determine the extent of the infestation and identify any damage rodents may have caused.
From there, a customized treatment plan can be developed to safely eliminate the rodent problem and prevent it from returning.
